"Our task regarding creativity is to help children climb their own mountains, as high as possible, no one can do more" - Loris Malaguzzi, founder of schools for young children in Reggio Emilia, Italy

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to get to know about our school and the many things we have to offer children and families. In the nearly three decades since I’ve been involved with the Children’s Studio, from my earliest days just out of college, I have been captured by the complexity of children and how they learn. I am the mother of four boys, a graduate of Seton Hall and William Paterson Universities and have owned and operated my own preschools since 1988. I hold a BA Degree in Early Education, with NJ certifications in Elementary, P-3 and Teacher of Reading as well as a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction.

My career as a teacher and director continues to be inspired by various educational leaders and philosophies, particularly the Reggio Emilia approach to working with children and families. We continue to build on that progressive approach within the context of the Children Studio school culture, that sets Art, Science, Math and Social Studies at the forefront our curriculum. It is these 21st century learning experiences that provide our children with meaningful invitations to express their ideas in a thoughtful and creative way.

I look forward to welcoming your family as you consider becoming part of a learning community that values children's ideas, protects the playfulness of early childhood, creates innovative and nurturing environments, and engages families in their children’s early education.

So, it is with sincerity, that I, along with the entire school staff, commit to providing a school filled with joy!

Warmly,
Colleen Dolaghan
